Truth, Competition and Institutionalisation of Interests: Comparative Analysis of Pluralism of Opinion in Politics and Science.
The project aims at understanding the process of institutionalisation of new knowledge, i.e. development of social and political institutions that implement new political and research programs and new ideas about social goals and ways to achieve them. It involves inquiry into the dual sociocognitive nature of new knowledge; comparison of basic interpretations and use of “true” knowledge by scholarly and political communities; comparative study of non-formal communities that generate and develop new paradigms of social and scientific knowledge. The project, headed by V. Sergeyev, was endorsed by the Russian Fund for Basic Research and carried out in 1998-2000 at the Centre for International Studies, Moscow State Institute for International Relations (University), is supported by the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research.
