Political Parties in Russian Provinces.

The project was to assess the scope and character of party politics in three selected Russian provinces. The principal objects of inquiry were the role and influence of regional party organisations and their relations with the national party leadership, regional executive and legislative, business and media. It was a joint project of the Department of Government, the University of Uppsala, Sweden, and the Centre for International Studies, Moscow State Institute for International Relations (University), carried out in 2000-01. Findings were presented at 0 the International Conference on “Democracy in Russia” (Uppsala University, Uppsala, Sweden, April 12-13, 2002).
